Ringling - Funeral Services for Mrs. Jessica Fay (Bardsher) Austin, 76, of Ringling are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wed. September 8, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Ringling with Rev. Mike Johnston and Sherry Tadlock officiating. Interment will follow at Ringling Memorial Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.

Jessica died peacefully at her home on Monday September 6, 2021. She left this world surrounded by her family, just as she wanted too. Jessica was a loving wife to Ronnie and mother to three children, Stanley, and his wife Janet; Scotty; and Sunnie, and her late husband, Chas Sellers. She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Rayne Austin, Barret Austin, Rumer Austin, Rosston Austin, Devin Austin, Henry Sellers, Hattie Sellers and Charlie Sellers. Also surviving is a sister Jackie Jennings and a brother, Wayne Bardsher and wife Jayne; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

Jessica was born in Duncan, Oklahoma, on May 28, 1945. She was the 6th of seven siblings born to Gladys and Henry Bardsher.

Jessica initially worked as a legal assistant at an abstract company for a number of years . Her mother was needing extra help at the local sale barn cafe' and that is where Jessica met Ronnie and they soon married in nearby Ringling, Oklahoma, on July 10, 1975. Partners in love, they became partners in business when they started Austin Cattle Company right there on the family homestead. In the early years, Jessica could always be found tending to the books in their office, not even a mile away from the house, while Ronnie was out on the road buying cattle.

The saying “Behind every successful man is a strong woman.” could not be more true in their union and Ronnie loved to tell a story that demonstrated that to a tee. When times were hard and business was slow and he was ready to give up on their dream, he came home to tell Jessica that he was finished. With a straight spine and a firm look, she told Ronnie that they would do no such thing. Confident in her belief in him, he got back to work alongside her and neither of them ever looked back again.

Though business was important, Jessica’s life’s work was her children. They were her whole heart and everyone who knew her, knew that. She was their greatest supporter and number one fan. She was at every sports game, school assembly, field trip ... you name it, she was there. And when the kids were grown and making lives and families of their own, her support never wavered, it just expanded. Traveling between Oklahoma and Texas, Nana was always there to dote on her grandchildren, no matter how old they got.

Jessica will be greatly missed by her husband, they were the loves of each other’s lives. Her children, grandchildren, family and friends will mourn her loss, no one can take her place.

Jessica was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Gladys Bardsher; sisters, Vanita Morgan and Terry Thrasher; brothers, Charlie and Carol Bardsher.

Casket bearers are Larry Blankenship, Dale Riley, Lyndal Van Buskirk, Scott Skinner, Dustin Weatherly and Johnny Dewbre.

Honorary bearers are her Grandsons.

Family visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Ringling.
