Obituary for Carroll Johnnie "John" Nipp

Simon - Home Going services for Mr. Carroll Johnnie "John" Nipp, 73, of Pike are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at the Assembly of God Church of Wilson with Rev. Jim Duck and Jackie Hartman officiating. Interment will follow at the Simon Cemetery with military honors. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.

John was born to the late Mr. Conver William "Con" Nipp and Mrs. Jessie "Pearl (Powell) Nipp on March 13, 1948, at Simon, OK. He went to his heavenly home on Thursday evening Feb. 3, 2022, at his residence in Overbrook.

John was raised as one of 17 children living at Simon. He initially attended his early years of school at Meadowbrook and then Turner, graduating from Turner High School in 1966. Shortly after his graduation he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He served honorably for two years, active and returned home in 1968. He married the former Ms. Marsha Ann Hockersmith on July 2, 1970, at Gainesville, TX.

John worked some within the pipeline construction industry and for V.E. of Springer before gaining employment at the Total Refinery of Ardmore. There he worked until his retirement in 1991. John loved horses and was an avid hunter. He loved to go hog and coon hunting, and was a member of the Coonhunters, Association. Some of his other favorite things to do was to play the guitar and auctioneer at the Love County Livestock sales and horse sales. As a young child, John was baptized at the Abner Holiness Church and later rededicated his faith by baptism at the Well Springs Church near Marietta. John will be remembered for his love and kindness to others, who always wanted the best for everyone. He never judged anyone for their faults and always invited anyone to sit at his table and have a home cooked meal.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Con and Pearl Nipp; son, Carroll Johnnie Nipp, II - May 10, 2019; sisters, Parlee Russell, Meady Mae Vernon, Elnora Phillips, Oleta Self; infant sister, Ida Dorlene Nipp; brothers, Claud, Charles and Clyde Nipp.

Survivors include his loving wife Ann of the home; daughter, Jennifer Nipp and Colby Barrick of Overbrook; daughter in law, Melissa Greenroyd-Nipp; sisters, Lorene Montgomery of Marietta, Nadine Goode of Wilson, Carolyn Westmoreland of Ardmore, Linda Sue Williams and husband Warren of Rubottom; brothers, Conver Nipp of North Pole, Gene Nipp, Donnie Nipp and wife Jeannie, both of Wilson, and Curtiss Nipp and wife Brenda of Simon; sister in law, Beth Nipp of Simon; grandson, James "Con' Nipp and wife Alley and grandson, Colter Steele Barrick; 3 great grandchildren; special daughter, Jammi Jo Thogmartin, and other very special family, Sabrina Featherston, and R.J. Perry; numerous other nieces, nephews and other family.

Casket bearers will be Colby Barrick, Justin Nipp, Travis Nipp, Kenneth Westmoreland, Rob Branch and Bub Hockersmith.

Honorary bearers are Sonny Mobley, R.J. Perry, Gerald Fort, Darin Miller, J.P. Hockersmith, Jim Brown and all of his nephews and nieces.

Family visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Wilson.
