Obituary for Susan Kay Sturdivant
Velma - Funeral Services for Mrs. Susan Kay (Smith) Sturdivant, 72 are scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 3, 2022 at the Alexander Gray Velma Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Brock officiating. Interment will follow to New Velma Cemetery.
Susan was born January 17, 1950 in Pomona, CA to the late Mr. William F. Smith and Mrs. Mamie Bell (Airington) Smith. She departed from this life on Friday, February 25, 2022 in Duncan, OK.
Susan was raised in a family of a father who was an Army Veteran where she started school in Japan. She then went on to grade school in Michigan and high school at Velma. Soon after, she married Mr. Billy Sturdivant on October 16, 1967 in Torrence, CA and together, they were blessed with three children, Gilbert, Kelly and Keri. Susan was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, knitting, ceramics and watching a good movie. She was a member of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Ringling.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and by her husband, Billy on July 31, 2012.
Susan is survived by her son, Gilbert Sturdivant and wife Lisa of Duncan, OK; daughters, Kelly Scifres and husband Butch of Ringling and Keri Self and husband Clifford of Ratliff City; grandchildren, Keith Sturdivant and wife Micaela, Kaylynn Self, Tommy Self and Clifford Self, Jr.; and by a host of other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Gilbert Sturdivant, Keith Sturdivant, Tommy Self, Tom Firestone, Randy Drury, and Butch Scifres. Honorary bearer will be Haskel Airington.
