Obituary for Edward Royce Sutton

Edward Royce Sutton, of Loco, departed this life on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at his residence near Loco at the age of 92 years, 11 months, and 10 days. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 8, 2022 at First Baptist Church of Loco with Rev. Randy Southerland and Rev. Robert Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at the Loco Cemetery in Loco. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Velma.

Edward was born to the late Mr. Charles Emmitt Sutton and Mrs. LuAnna Del (Fox) Sutton in Willis Springs, Oklahoma on April 26, 1929.

Mr. Sutton was raised at Willis Springs until about the 4th grade and then attended Loco Schools where he graduated. After graduation he attended Cameron University in Lawton where he learned to survey and worked for ASCS surveying ponds. He and Mrs. Betty L. Fore were united in marriage on November 6, 1949 in Mountain Grove, OK. They made their home South of Loco where Edward enjoyed farming for many years. He was a hard worker who enjoyed bailing hay and feeding his cattle. Mr. Sutton worked as a pumper in the oilfield for many years. He loved going to sporting events watching his grandchildren play basketball and baseball. Edward was a long time member of the Loco Baptist Church and helped with all aspects of the church from keeping it clean to taking kids to Falls Creek. He served on many different boards in Stephens County including Farm Bureau, ACS Board, Soil Conservation Board, and ASCOG Board of Directors.

Mr. Sutton is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Raymond Sutton, Bob Sutton, B.J. Sutton, and Ted Sutton.

He is survived by his wife, Betty L. (Fore) Sutton of the home; son, Eddie Sutton and wife Charla of Loco; granddaughters, Celes Williams and her children, Bryar and Sutton of Loco; and Kyla Keck and her husband, Tanner of Duncan.

Serving as casket bearers will be Steve Biffle, Paul Tuley, Allen Murray, Dale Richardson, Mike Whitehead, Mike Hoggard and Jim Tittsworth.

Honorary casket bearers will be nephews, Ron Sutton, Jim Sutton, Donny Sutton, Jim Alexander, and Robert Johnson.

Visitation will be held from 6-9:00 P.M. Thursday evening at Alexander Gray Funeral Home of Velma.
