Obituary for Jacky Ray "Jack" Vandeventer

Ardmore - Funeral Services for Mr. Jacky "Jack" Ray Vandeventer, 87 of Cheek are scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Saturday, April 30, 2022 at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ardmore with Rev. David Gardner and Darryl Howard officiating. Interment will follow to Cheek Cemetery. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.

Jack was born October 18, 1934 to the late Mr. Herschel Len Vandeventer and Mrs. Virgie Mae (Davis) Howard in Durant, OK. He departed from this life on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at his home.

Jack was raised at Cheek where he attended school and spent the majority of his life. He and the former Ms. Lou Ella Henderson were united in marriage on December 31, 1955 at Cheek. He was employed within the oilfield all of his working years and was the owner and operator of Chemical Pump and Supply, INC. of Wilson since 1986. Jack also loved to farm and ranch, always having innovative ideas that helped him complete the task.

Jack was considered a gentleman that loved the Lord with all his heart and also admired Appaloosa horses. He loved showing Appaloosa horses and driving John Deere tractors. Jack was a lifelong member and attendee of the Cheek Baptist Church, where he served as the song leader for many years. He loved to sing and for years he visited the Wilson Nursing Home singing to the residents after church. Jack was a member of the National Appaloosa Horse Association, Southwest Cattleman's. Association and Cheek Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Lou Ella on July 16, 2012; step mother, Maude Vandeventer; step father, Frank Howard; and a step brother, Alfred Gann.

Jack is survived by his son, Alan Vandeventer and wife Tammy of Wilson; daughter, Rita McGee and husband Terry of Ardmore; brother, Roger Vandeventer and wife Debra of Longview, TX; sister, Becky Macklin and husband David of Riverside, CA; grandchildren, Justin McGee and wife Shiloh, Christy Marsh and husband Jarrod, and Russell Vandeventer; great grandchildren, Cody and Dylan Marsh; a special sweetheart, Ruby White; and by a host of other family and friends.

Casket bearers will be Russell Vandeventer, Justin McGee, Jarrod Marsh, Harold Newman, Jimmy Davis, and Pete Carlile.

Honorary bearers will be Cody Marsh, Dylan Marsh, Russell Dark, Johnie Knapp, past and present employees of Chemical Pump and Supply, Inc.

Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8 P.M. at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home in Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cross Timbers Hospice 207 C St NW, Ardmore, OK 73401, Cheek Baptist Church building fund 1535 Cheek Rd, Lone Grove, OK 73443, or a charity of your choice.
