Obituary for James Junior "Junior" Murray

Healdton- Services for James "Junior" Murray, 90, of Ardmore, are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 24, 2022, at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton with Rev. Raymond Norton officiating. Interment will follow at the Oil Springs Cemetery in Carter County.

Junior was born on May 28, 1932 at Bristow, OK to the late Mr. James L. Murray and Mrs. Trellis G. (Killman) Murray. He departed this life Friday, June 17, 2022 at the Veterans Center in Ardmore, OK.

Junior was raised at Hinton, OK as one of 7 children. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he served honorably for 2 years on active duty returning home to Hinton in 1955. Junior visited Healdton with his brother and met the former Ms. Waynell Langley and the couple were united in marriage on January 14, 1956, at Gainesville, TX. They spent the majority of their life together residing on the Coleman Ranch. Junior worked for Harry Coleman for many years and also worked as the Bridge Foreman for Carter County District II. Waynell preceded him in death on August 30, 1995. In earlier years, Junior loved to fish. He enjoyed watching westerns, praying for his family, and attending church at the Gospel Lighthouse.

Also preceding him in death are his parents; an infant son, James Marshall Murray; daughters, Missy Ellis and Lahoma Williams; siblings, George "Son", Melvin, Bill, and Aletta "Sis".

Survivors include his sons, Timothy Murray and fiance, Michelle McDougall of Graham, Allen Murray and fiance, Denise Rios of Fox, and Casey Murray of Lawton; sons-in-law, Heath Williams of Fox and Phillip Ellis of Healdton; daughter-in-law, Vallie Murray of Healdton; brother, Eddie Murray of Hydro; sister, Bonnie Hicks and husband Tommy of Hinton; grandchildren, Daniel, James, Natalie, Richard, Nicole, Houston and wife Jara, Sierra and fiance, William Vance, Brandon and Bailey Ogle, Ashley and husband Bobby, Austin, and Dawson; numerous great grandchildren; a host of other family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Murray, James Murray, Brandon Ellis, Kenneth Murray, Cody Coleman, and Darren Langley.

Honorary bearers are the men of the Gospel Lighthouse.

Family visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. Thursday evening at the Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton.
